This one is for my girls, lets call it... The Ancient Path.

Hey there baby girl, hope you've been amazing 😇

For the longest time the world has understood that women, we just know things. There are numerous stories of how mothers, wives, sisters and friends have saved the lives of their loved ones simply by sharing a feeling they had. Something simple like, I think you shouldn't travel today, or don't eat that often turns out to be a life saving suggestion. Even where the women are not educated ,wise men have appreciated the importance of running their ideas by their wives and mothers because somehow women, we just know things.

I think, because of our nurturing nature, God guides women by whispering to us about what is to come, he gives us a sneak peak of the end at the beginning. I think, there are certain things that God does not directly reveal to men because a man is predominantly rational and may not receive or understand, so he deposits it in a woman because we know how to receive, process and relay. However, with time women are becoming more or equally as rational as men for many reasons; perhaps the heart where the Lord would speak is broken, maybe its because rational makes more sense, or it could be that our desires are so loud that we cannot hear that still small voice because it never compels or demands, it only beckons ever so softly. I will attempt to make a case for why we must try to keep our intuition alive, particularly in the realm of romantic relationships, I pray I succeed.

Intuition for me is three things, it could be a thought, an incessant feeling that will not go away or lastly, a knowing. Wonder, in most cases is an invitation to re- evaluate. If you are dating and getting to know a man for example, and you find yourself questioning whether he really loves you that's your intuition nudging you to take a step back and pay attention. A feeling that will not go away is simply that, despite there being physical evidence of the contrary, the feeling will not let up. It is important to ensure that the feeling is put to rest at the earliest instance. When you know, you know. When it is not easy for someone or circumstances to convince you otherwise, you know.

It is not that our intuition is so dull that we have to be in absolute silence to hear, its not that God gave up and is not wanting to guide us anymore. Most times we ignore the prompts, we choke the voice with our insecurities and fears. Then inevitably, stuff hits the fan and we are left with tears in our eyes . It takes catastrophe for us to sober up and start taking stock, only then do we realize that the writing was all over the wall the whole time and we had known the end, albeit it part, from the beginning.

Lists are nice, by all means lets tick the boxes but there are certain truths that common sense cannot compute and eyes will not be able to see no matter how hard we gaze. I have learnt that a man can love you with all his strength and even when he means every word he will still falter, though he desires to give you the world his strength will fail him, though his heart beats for you it is not grown enough to bear the weight of time, though he means well... he is just a man. Therefore, a man cannot testify of the posture of his own heart, no matter the length he goes to profess his love and devotion, it is only the maker of hearts that knows the truth, only He knows who a man truly is. There needs to be an internal witness within us as women that confirms that we are where we ought to be.

I still have a lot to learn about love and life but one thing I know is that God writes beautiful love stories and He has a flair for the narrow path😊 that means that every love story will have something different about it, so comparing notes and ticking boxes may not cut it. The lord loves you honey and He is willing to guide but we have a part to play and He will not shove His guiding hand down our throats, He is a gentleman after all. A story is told in the bible of Zipporah, Moses' wife. Scripture says that while Moses was on his way to Egypt to demand that Pharaoh let the Israelites go, the Lord met him at a lodging place and was about to kill him. It was in that instant that Zipporah took a flint knife, circumcised their son and threw the foreskin at Moses. It is written that thereafter the Lord let Moses alone. Your intuition is more than a feeling and it makes all the difference.

As women I understand that we are passionate people and when a woman loves she loves for real, it is even said that it is impossible to advise is a woman in love, that's just how hard we love. One prayer I have learnt to pray is ' Lord align the desires of my heart with your desires.' May our hearts only yearn for that which is truly ours.

Start small and keep growing, ask Him to guide you. Intuition is God's gift to every woman. I hope i've made some sense 😉
